Seal Watching Cruise

Phillip Island
Activity Code WFCC100

Highlights

  • Australia's largest fur seal colony
  • Experience a true eco-cruise along the scenic coast of Phillip Island to Seal Rocks.

Overview

From the time you drive over the bridge to Phillip Island, you are entering into a wildlife zone as the island is home to an abundance of natural wildlife like koalas, penquins and seals. We will meet you at the northern point of Phillip Island, where you will be boarding one of our modern cruisers. As you depart the jetty, you are welcomed onboard, introduced to the cruise rangers who take you through a few safety demonstrations and tell you a little about the itinerary of the days cruise.
On the way out to Seal Rocks, you will learn about the history, flora and fauna of the Island as special points of interest are past. Then as you get closer to Seal Rocks, you will start to feel the sensation of going over the long swells that come in from Bass Strait. On the most south-westerley point of Phillip Island, you will stop for a look at the great Nobbies Cave for a photo opportunity, then head out across the waters to Seal Rocks where you are drifting amongst thousands of seals. Your cruise rangers and captain will interpret what the seals are doing, with the different antics they get up to as they bask on the nearby rocks.
You will be within just a few metres of the seals all whilst in the comfort and safety of your boat. After spending 20 to 30 minutes with the seals, the cruiser will commence a return trip, whilst the captain points out the scenic southern coastline and will encourage you to watch out for the resident dolphins or penguins as you cruise back.
On the return trip, you can enjoy complimentary afternoon tea including tea / coffee, biscuits and cake, or purchase drink or two from our licensed bar. You are also welcome on the bridge of the cruiser on the return trip to visit the captain or sit back and watch one of the marine-life documentaries.
We have a 100% success rate of spotting seals!
