BCL - Introduction to Yachting - Weekend Course
Overview
After a short introduction you will be shown aboard your yacht. Our yachts are all keel boats which range in size from 33 to 45 feet.
Objectives to be covered in the Introductory Sailing Course are:
Know what safety equipment to carry on board, when and how to use it. Understand the principles of sailing and how they apply to a larger yacht. Be familiar with basic sailing technology. Have a basic understanding of how to sail a yacht on all points, tacking, gybing and basic sail trimming.
Know the safe and correct use of winches - hardening in and easing out.

We are located at Darling Harbour Exact meeting point and supplier's details are provided immediately after booking.
Additional Info
- We say if you can carry your own suit-case up a flight of stairs you are fit enough to sail. You need to be reasonably agile to move safely around the yachts. You must be over 16 to participate. This experience is suitable for singles, couples or groups.
- Numbers on the day: Maximum 5 per yacht and instructor.
- Session length: This is a 2 day course held over a Saturday and Sunday held from 10.00am to 4.00pm (subject to availability and numbers on board). Plus a 3 hour Social Race afternoon conducted on the 3rd Saturday of each month.
- This is a fully accredited International Yacht Training Worldwide course and is globally recognised in the sailing community

The cancellation policy for this activity is as follows:
- Cancellations notified 30 days or more prior to activity date » full refund is given by activity supplier;
- Cancellations notified 8 days or more (but less than 30 days) prior to activity date » 50% refund is given by activity supplier;
- Cancellations notified less than 8 days prior to activity date » no refund is given by activity supplier.
If you do not attend at the agreed date, time and place you may not be entitled to any refund by the activity supplier.
