BCL - Hang Gliding Tandem at Byron Bay
Overview
Upon arriving at the hang gliding hill you will be given a short briefing on the procedures and how you will take off with your instructor. We will explain what to expect after take off and answer any questions you may have.
Launching into the gentle breeze is easy and we soon gain height to obtain a spectacular view over the cliffs and beaches of Cape Byron.
The controls of the hang glider will be explained as we fly, and very soon you will be able to have a go at flying it yourself. You will soar like an eagle in the purest form that a human can, with your face in the wind and gentle body movements to steer the glider.
Landing is easy and gentle on the beach. A small camera is recommended to bring with you for the easiest way to have a record of the flight. All you need is light sporty clothing and runners or sandals for footwear. Videos are available, we can arrange this on the day.

This activity takes place at Byron Bay, Northern NSW, which is the central location from which we leave to go to the flying site. Exact meeting point and supplier's details are provided immediately after booking.
Additional Info
- The participant should be reasonably fit to do a short run on take-off and not have any back problems that could affect lying in a prone position. Ages 8 and older and generally no more than 95kg in weight.
- A waiver/indemnity form will be signed by each participant. All equipment used is up-to-date certified equipment and hang gliders that are approved by the Hang Gliding Federation of Australia (HGFA). The instructors are fully qualified and certified by the HGFA and have extensive local experience.
- Numbers on the day: Individuals or groups of up to 6 people can be taken in either session.
- Session length: The whole session will last for one hour including the pre-flight briefing, the half hour flight and landing and pack-up. You will then be taken back to your car or accomodation in our air- conditioned mini-bus

The cancellation policy for this activity is as follows:
- Cancellations notified 30 days or more prior to activity date » full refund is given by activity supplier;
- Cancellations notified 8 days or more (but less than 30 days) prior to activity date » 50% refund is given by activity supplier;
- Cancellations notified less than 8 days prior to activity date » no refund is given by activity supplier.
If you do not attend at the agreed date, time and place you may not be entitled to any refund by the activity supplier.
