Overview
The Tour starts with a Hotel Pick-Up in Hobart.
A twenty minute drive sees us in the Mountain Park and ready for our first short walk.
We take a forest walk to the Octopus Tree, a towering 200 year old eucalypt which grows in a very special way. See Tasmania's Gondwanan Rainforest species and ancient Tree Ferns along the way and cross the headwaters of the Hobart Rivulet. Learn some fascinating local history.
We drive to the Springs (720m ASL) and after a short break, take our second walk. We walk thru drier forest and the track cuts right across boulderfields on the way to Sphinx Rock - an amazing lookout over the Treetops down to Hobart. We get great views from here even if the Mountain Top is covered in clouds. Take some time out to enjoy a gourmet Lunch here, or in a rustic Mountain Hut nearby if the weather closes in.
Then we return to the van and take a scenic drive to the summit (1270m ASL). There is time on top to explore and marvel at the outstanding views or take a walk in the clouds before our return to Hobart.
