Overview
Have a fun day while gaining confidence and skills in a canoe or kayak on the Yarra River.
We meet at the car park at 10am or pick up can be arranged. The group is given a safety briefing.
We begin with a flat-water skills session and introduction to moving water skills, before venturing downstream to the rapids.
Lunch is a picnic on the riverbank.
We then continue paddling to our finish point, ending the day at about 4:00pm.
Location
Templestowe (Melbourne - Victoria)
This is a great day out for family or friends. It is close to Melbourne and you can take public transport or drive yourself. Ex[perience rapids on the river, try to spot a koala or other wildlife while paddling down the river. It's a good mix of flat water and rapids. OUr most popular trip takes place 45 minutes drive East of Melbourne near the charming old gold mining township of Warrandyte. Pick up from Nunawading Station is available at 9.15am on the day of the tour. For the Templestowe paddling trip, we will meet you at Westerfolds Park. For Option 3, Wonga Park, we will meet you at either Nunawading station or the river if you are driving yourself.

Numbers
Price is per person, a maximum of 18 people per day can participate. Instructor to boat ratio is 1:6 although this is the maximum.
Session Time
10am to 4pm if you meet at the site. 9.15am - 4.30pm if you meet at the Nunawading train station. Tour is available weekends only unless group bookings of 4or more.
Guidelines & Restrictions
We recommend an average swimming ability & general fitness level. Wetsuit (if you have one) or thermal underwear, woollen jumper, bathers, towel, spray jacket, shorts, water resistant sunscreen, woollen socks, old pair of runners (you must have footwear on the river) and a change of dry clothes.

In the case of extreme weather conditions this experience will be rescheduled for a later date.
Extra Info
This activity is suitable for anyone over the age of 6. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Foot protection must be worn while in the boats. In summer wear bathers under your shorts and Tee. In winter fleecy tops, thermals, pants and spray jacket are recommended. Also always bring sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, water and a spear change of clothes just in case you fall in.
