BCL - Tandem Hang Gliding in Byron Bay
Overview
Get a bird's eye view of Byron Bay with a breath-taking hang gliding flight.
Before launching with your instructor you will be given a 10-15 minute briefing and explanation on and about hang gliding - its as easy as that!
We have been flying the ridges and soaring above the cliffs at the famous Cape Byron lighthouse for over 25 years now and the setting for your first hang gliding experience could not be better. Your first tandem flight can truly give you the freedom like only a quiet hang glider can and no previous experience is necessary.
Further lessons and instruction are available to achieve your pilots certificate. We join you up as a HGFA member which gives you trainee membership and allows you to enjoy a tandem flight with third party liability insurance for a further 4 months if you wish to take more flights/lessons.
We are accredited and preferred licence holders to operate in the national park where control and management of all activities are co-ordinated with the Cape Byron Headland reserve trust.

This activity is undertaken in The hang gliding is undertaken in the Cape Byron National Park for southeasterly winds and over the Lennox Headland Nature Reserve for northerly winds. Exact meeting point and supplier's details are provided immediately after booking.
Additional Info
- To participate you need to be fit enough to ride a bike. Weight restrictions vary depending on weather conditions. Maximum weight is 95kgs. Minimum age is 14 years old. We do not recommend hang gliding for people with serious conditions such as heart problems, diabetes, recent injuries/operations.
- Hang Gliding is heavily dependant on weather conditions. All flying is professionally conducted with certified instructors who live locally and are very experienced members of the Hang Gliding association of Australia.
- Numbers on the day: We can take up 2-4 flights at a time.
- Session length: There is a 10 - 15 minute briefing. The actual flight lasts 30 minutes. We operate every day subject to weather conditions, except Christmas Day.

- Cancellations notified 30 days or more prior to activity date » full refund is given by activity supplier;
- Cancellations notified 8 days or more (but less than 30 days) prior to activity date » 50% refund is given by activity supplier;
- Cancellations notified less than 8 days prior to activity date » no refund is given by activity supplier.
If you do not attend at the agreed date, time and place you may not be entitled to any refund by the activity supplier.
