Overview
We arrive at the Tawonga Fishing Lodge on friday night in time for a lovely dinner before settling down for the night in surroundings so quiet that sleep comes easy. During breakfast, we see flocks of beautiful coloured parrots come down, and we feed them sunflower seeds without getting too close as they are wild creatures.
We then go to the nearby Kiewa River for some instructions in fly fishing which last for about two hours. After that, we go to the Mt Beauty Bakery for some of their award winning coffee.
We return to the Kiewa River and fish until lunch, with a picnic hamper. After lunch, we go to the Bogong High Plains above Falls Creek and fish the small creeks for brown trout.
We return to the lodge in time for dinner and then the evening is yours to do whatever you want to do.
This morning, we travel to a remote wilderness river, down bush tracks studded with wombat holes and emu droppings. The guide points out trees that have been rubbed by wild deer that are abound in the area as we continue to trout fish. We stay at the river all day and can enjoy swimming in the afternoon. We then return to the lodge for dinner and you can stay on overnight and return home the next morning.
