Adelaide Dolphin Sanctuary Guided Tours by Kayak

Description

The Adelaide Dolphin Sanctuary is part of the Port River Estuary. It is an area of incredible beauty and ecological importance. The sheltered, tree lined creeks of this area are an ideal environment for a kayaking adventure. Whether you are a novice or more experienced paddler of any age this area has so much on offer for you to explore. Travelling by kayak is a unique way to experience an encounter with the Port River dolphins or view the wrecks in the Ship's Graveyard Maritime Heritage Trail.

Our guides will lead you on an exploration of this facinating area, keep you safe and tell some stories about the sights you see along the way. Tours are conducted in 2 person kayaks, which are easy to paddle, stable and very comfortable. There is also plenty of space to bring a small bag of snacks and a drink to keep you fuelled up throughout your adventure. A camera is also recommended and we can provide a waterproof case to keep it dry. Tours are suitable for all ages, no previous experience is necessary; you just need a sense of adventure. If you are a nature lover and enjoy the water this tour is a must!

Location

Adelaide (Adelaide - South Australia)

We meet at Garden Island Reserve. This is found at the end of Grand Trunkway, Gillman. Here you will find picnic area, BBQ facilities and public toilets. This location is about 40 minutes from Adelaide GPO and 10 minutes from Port Adelaide. Free pick up from Pt Adelaide VIC on request.

Participant Guidelines

Tour fees includes kayak, buoyancy vest, paddle and a qualified guide. We suggest you wear light coloured, loose fitting clothing to suit the temperature of the day, be sun smart wear a shady hat and sunscreen, shoes or active sandals that may get wet. Bring a drink, snack and camera.

The tour is weather dependent.

Should the weather be unsuitable on the day you may transfer your booking to a subsequent tour.

Tour departures are based on the best tide of the day. Full details will be provided on booking. Child tickets are for anyone 15 years and younger.

Session Length

This is a 3 hour guided tour. After a short introduction and safety talk we are on the water to explore. There are numerous stops for photos and some stories about the facinating sights to be seen...and introducing the dolphins!

Numbers on Day

We operate with a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 12 participants on each tour.
